When the Curtains Begin to Close: What Will Your Story Say?

This week, I had the honour of attending a 90th birthday celebration—a remarkable milestone. It wasn’t just a party; it was a living tribute. A celebration of a life fully lived, of triumph over trials, of love shared, and of wisdom earned. As I watched friends and family gather to honour this incredible woman, I couldn’t help but ask myself a sobering question:
What will my story say when I’m 90?
Will it be a tale of courage or of fear? Will it be filled with dreams fulfilled—or dreams deferred?
When the curtains begin to draw, will I feel the warmth of fulfilment, or the sting of regret?

Too often, we live reactively responding to pressures, juggling responsibilities, chasing expectations. But milestones like this remind us to live with intention. To think about the legacy we want to leave, and the impact we want to make.
The truth is: the life you want to look back on doesn’t happen by accident. It’s shaped by the daily decisions you make now.
Whether it’s nurturing your gifts, having the courage to pursue your calling, or daring to love and forgive—you are writing your future memoir right now.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
God has already placed greatness inside of you—seeds of purpose, creativity, and resilience. But you must choose to water them.
Practical Reflection:
Take a moment this week to ask yourself:
If I lived to be 90, what do I hope people will say about me?
What are the top 3 things I would regret not doing?
What one step can I take this week toward the life I want to look back on?
This isn't about pressure. It’s about perspective.
Living with the end in mind helps us prioritise what truly matters.
Reflection Question:
If your 90th birthday was tomorrow, what part of your story would you be most proud of—and what chapter still needs to be written?
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to number my days that I may gain a heart of wisdom. Help me to live intentionally, to walk in purpose, and to pour out all that You’ve placed inside of me. May my life be a reflection of Your grace, a story worth telling, and a legacy that brings You glory. Amen.
Confidence Mantra:
I am the author of a powerful story. I choose to live fully, love deeply, and lead boldly—one purposeful day at a time.
