Healing Comes Before Soaring

Week 1 – May | RISE Pillar: Identity | Theme: Self-Worth + Inner Healing

Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, “I don’t even know who I am anymore”?Or felt like no matter what you do, it’s never enough? You smile. You show up. You keep moving. But inside... you’re tired, confused, and maybe even a little numb.

Yeah. I’ve been there too.

“Healing isn’t the end—it’s the beginning of becoming.”
“Healing isn’t the end—it’s the beginning of becoming.”

Let’s Talk About Healing

Sometimes we don’t even realize we need healing—because we’ve gotten really good at hiding the pain.

We cover it with:

- Busyness

- Perfectionism

- People-pleasing

- Anger

- Or pretending everything’s fine

But deep down, something feels off.

Maybe it’s a breakup or betrayal you never fully dealt with.

Maybe it’s growing up in a home where your voice didn’t matter.

Maybe it’s the words someone said that still live rent-free in your mind.

Or maybe it’s the silent pressure to be strong, to keep going, to act like nothing hurts.

Whatever it is, it left a mark.

And without healing, that mark becomes your mirror—it distorts how you see yourself.

When Pain Becomes Louder Than Identity

Suddenly, you’re second-guessing everything.

You play small.

You doubt your value.

You lose sight of your purpose.

That’s not because you’re weak—it’s because pain has been speaking louder than your identity.

But here’s the truth:

You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

And healing is the bridge between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming.

What Healing Actually Looks Like

Healing doesn’t mean pretending everything’s okay.

It means finally being honest—with God, with yourself, and maybe with someone else you trust.

It’s choosing to unpack what you’ve buried.

It’s deciding to stop carrying what was never yours to hold.

It’s facing what hurt you, so it no longer controls you.

Because Once You Start to Heal—You Start to Rise

You stop apologizing for who you are

You stop chasing validation

You stop believing the lie that you’ll never be good enough

You start seeing yourself the way God sees you—loved, chosen, whole, and more powerful than your past.

This isn’t just for women.

This is for:

- The young adult who feels lost in their own skin

- The young man who’s been told to “man up” instead of open up

- The young woman who’s been made to feel like she’s too much—or not good enough

- The grown adult still carrying childhood wounds

Healing is for you.

Wholeness is possible.

And rising? It’s not just a hope—it’s your next step.

Reflection

What’s one moment, memory, or message from your past that still affects how you see yourself today?

Prayer

Lord, I’m tired of carrying what hurt me.

Show me who I really am—beyond the pain, beyond the past.

Heal the places I’ve tried to hide.

Help me rise into the identity You created for me.

Amen.

Confidence Mantra

I am not my pain. I am not my past.

I am healing, rising, and becoming who I was created to be.
