Bringing Life Into Perspective: What Really Matters?

This coming week, I’m taking some time out to visit family and friends. And as I prepare for the trip, something deep is stirring in my heart. A reminder. A reset. A reality check.

In the hustle of our day-to-day lives—ticking off to-do lists, building dreams, scrolling through updates, pushing to "do more"—we can unintentionally lose sight of what truly matters. We become so driven by what’s next that we rarely pause to ask ourselves: Where am I right now? And is this where I’m meant to be?

With everything constantly vying for our attention—social media, work demands, social pressures—it’s easy to drift from our core values and get caught in a life that looks successful on the outside but feels off-balance on the inside.

 A Life Out of Balance Is a Life Out of Alignment

There’s a powerful exercise in coaching called the Wheel of Life. It encourages you to reflect on key areas of your life—relationships, health, career, finances, spiritual life, fun, personal growth—and honestly evaluate how fulfilled you feel in each one.

What I’ve found is that many of us are over-invested in just one or two areas, while the rest quietly suffer. But when one part of the wheel is deflated, the whole ride becomes bumpy.

Sometimes, we just need to stop, step back, and bring things into perspective.


How to Bring Your Life Back Into Balance

Here are three simple but transformative steps to help you regain clarity and reconnect with what matters:

  1. Pause & Reflect: Take 10–15 minutes alone this week. No phone. No noise. Just you. Ask yourself: What feels out of alignment in my life? What am I neglecting that matters to me?

  2. Try the Wheel of Life: Download a free Wheel of Life tool (you can find one online or reach out—I’d be happy to share one). Score yourself from 1–10 in each area. Be honest. What surprised you?

  3. Reprioritise with Grace: Choose one area you’d like to focus on over the next month. Not to fix everything, but to honour what truly matters. Small consistent actions lead to big internal shifts.

 Prayer:

Lord, help me to pause and bring my life back into balance. Help me to see the areas I’ve overlooked, and give me the strength to make time for what matters. Redirect my focus to what brings true fulfilment and joy. Amen.
